Seller’s Guide for Interviewing a Real Estate Agent:
October 16th, 2007 Selling Your Home Jerry No Comments
Do you worry that choosing the right agent for the sale of your home is like shooting craps?
There are hundreds of real estate licensees in our area. Choosing the right agent for selling your home can be confusing. It is especially difficult when you speak with several different agents and they all seem so convincing.
There is another way to determine who is most likely to succeed in getting the best price, with the least hassle and in the shortest time. The key is knowing the right questions to ask. This is particularly important now as homes are selling more slowly.
The list below provides you with questions to ask your perspective agent. The list will not only help you select the right REALTOR® but also get the very best from the one you choose.
- Do you work as a full-time REALTOR®? How long have you been one?
- Do you GUARANTEE your services? In what ways?
- Can I cancel my listing with you at any time if I am not satisfied with your performance?
- In what ways will you encourage other REALTORS® to sell my home?
- Do you have a system to follow-up so that we can get valuable feedback after every showing?
- Do you have references that I may check?
- Are you associated with a national referral network that gives me the benefit of national exposure?
- Are you on the Internet exposing my property to millions of buyers instantly? In how many places?
- What is my property worth? What listing price do you recommend? How did you arrive at that price?
- Will you assist me in my relocation plans?
- Do you have a written specific marketing plan designed to sell my house quickly and for top dollar?
- Do you work with a staff of professionals that can support me?
- Do you have a 24 hour property information system so that my home is marketed 24 hours a day?
- Why should I list with you?

I’m sure that you can think of a few good questions of your own to add to the list. But I can assure you that these are the questions that make agents cringe during the Listing Presentation. A good REALTOR® will have ready answers for you. Expect it!

REMEMBER THESE NUMBERS:
‘83 – 170 – 17 – 76 – 2/1 – 3 …
…because they’re about “Goals for Kids”. With the Seattle Thunderbirds Hockey Team starting its’ 2007–08 Season, RE/MAX is proud to join forces with them to promote one of the nations most successful Children’s Charities – Children’s Miracle Network (CMN).
‘83 Founded in 1983, CMN generates healthcare funds and awareness programs to benefit children throughout North America.
170 This non-profit charity works with 170 participating hospitals across North America.
17 Every year 17 million children benefit from CMN with the help of long-time (1992) sponsor RE/MAX, their Sales Associates and their partners like the Seattle Thunderbirds.
76 For the last 16 years RE/MAX has generated over 76 million dollars through donations and ongoing participation of the Miracle Home® project – which allows RE/MAX sales associates to contribute a portion of their sales transaction to the CMN.
2/1 Because of RE/MAX’s association with CMN – we enlisted the support of The Thunderbirds to help spread the word and raise donations. Some of the local offices are using a postcard campaign that will allow recipients to buy one ice level seat for any October home game and receive the second free with the postcard. Additional opportunities for discounted tickets will be announced throughout the season.
3 As added incentive for this 3–way partnership, The Seattle Thunderbirds will name this promotion GOALS FOR KIDS. They will do their best to make sure that they make a lot of goals. Most important- everyone else, including you, is encouraged to cheer the T-Birds on and join in the promotion for the kids’ sake. All these efforts will culminate at the end of the season with the presentation of the funds raised to CMN whose local affiliate is Seattle’s own Children’s Hospital.
More on how you can join coming soon…
